About Rajshahi Rigional Center
Welcome to silk city Rajshahi and its a gorgeous regional center of Bangladesh Open University (BOU). This is one and only university in Bangladesh based on open and distance learning. Rajshahi is a significant educational, administrative, cultural, business oriented and as famous clean city in Bangladesh. It is situated by the bank of the Padma River. BOU Rajshahi Regional Center has officially started its journey at 1998. The establishment is an aesthetic three storied building spread over an area of about 3 acre land.
Among the 12 regional centers of BOU, Rajshahi Regional Center (RC) is one of the large center. It consists of Pabna, Naogaon, Natore and Chapainababganj districts. The regional and sub-regional centers are a big family of 52 officers-employees who are all continuously working sincerely and honestly to achieve the goals of Bangladesh Open University and committed to providing the best possible educational experience to students. Specially Rajshahi RC has an excellent ten who are working efficiently to make this RC as a model. RC Rajshahi has been Playing a vital role in the field of spreading education to all sectors of people especially to the grass root and dropped out people of the northern of Bangladesh.
Currently 15 Academic programs are running under this regional center. 2339 skilled tutors are teaching about 33 thousand students in 104 study centers. RC Rajshahi has several services for stakeholders. These are program related information desk, one stop service, help desk, complain box, breast feeding corner and also ladies prayer room.
The regional center is situated in a very pleasant and peaceful environment at Nowhata on the Rajshahi-Naogaon highway. The university campus is beautified by colorful flowering trees, tubs and various kind of decoration pieces. It is a student friendly regional centre. Strict care is taken to ensure that no student is subjected to any kind of harassment.
Mission
The MISSION of Rajshahi Regional Center is to spread quality education, both general and need specific, among all sections of citizens of the region, irrespective of their age and gender in a flexible manner by using a suitable mix of educational media and technologies. Above all to work tirelessly to implement all measures taken by BOU authority.
Vision
Rajshahi Regional Center aims to ensure education for all the masses of people of the region and at the same time to make itself a model regional center as an example of excellence in higher education through open and distance education system.
Responsibilities
All the field level work of Bangladesh Open University is done through the regional center. A regional director serves as the chief executive of a regional center. Briefly the responsibilities of the Regional Director are:
Conduct, supervise and control all administrative activities of regional and sub-regional centers under its jurisdiction
To take necessary effective measures to open new study center.
To conduct promotional activities to increase the number of student of all programs.
To manage all educational activities including sending the student list, book demand, coordinator and tutor proposal to the SSS division after confirming the admission and registration of all programs.
Visiting sub-regional centers and monitoring tutorial class.
Sending question requisition and exam center proposal to examination division.
Another important responsibilities of Regional Director is to give annual confidential report to subordinate officers and employees.
Program Income monitoring reports are send to the Accounts and Finance Division.
Maintaining communication with local administration, providing office security, performing all finance related activities is also the responsibilities of a Regional Director.Sub Regional Centers
